NCCS boys, Placid girls win in CVAC tennis

CHAMPLAIN — Lake Placid’s Georgia O’Leary and Northeastern Clinton’s Abbie Miller opened the 2013 tennis season with a three-set tangle in No. 1 singles.

O’Leary came out on top with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory to help lead the Blue Bombers to a 3-2 win over the Cougars in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls’ tennis Wednesday.

Jenna LaValley picked up a three-set win for Northeastern Clinton in No. 2 singles over Joan O’Leary, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Victoria O’Leary defeated Aurora Slater in No. 3 singles.

Morgan Rabideau and Kayla Hudson picked up the Blue Bombers third win in No. 2 doubles, 7-5, 6-4.

Aryana Kellison and Andrea Mossey took the win in No. 1 doubles for the Cougars.

Northeastern Clinton boys captured a 5-0 sweep over Lake Placid.

Ryan Marks, Jordan Brilotti and Brendan Boutin captured wins in singles.

Briolotti needed three sets to knock off the Blue Bombers’ Keegan Barney, 7-5, 6-7(3-7), 6-1.

Adam Khater and MacKenna Hunter, and Austin Tetreault and Devan McManus were straight-set winners in doubles for the Cougars.

PERU — Patrick Demarais and Kyle Kemp defeated Ryan Wood and Aaron Cross in No. 1 doubles to lift the Indians over the Chiefs.

Johnny McAuliffe and Connor Bond picked up wins in singles for Peru.

Shawn Bissonette captured a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles for Saranac. Matt Bouyea and Alijah Bolliver took a three-set win at No. 2 doubles.

Margaret Mitchell and Kari Kusalonis each needed tiebreakers to capture their straight-set wins in singles for the Indians. Karley Goffeau-Stefaniak also won at No. 3 singles.

Taylor Higgins and Anna Mitchell, and Shania Howard and Nicole Mooney were winners in doubles for Peru.

PLATTSBURGH — The Hornets made it a clean sweep of the Knights in both boys’ and girls’ tennis.

Marle Curle and Kelsey Senecal capture singles victories for the girls, while Emilie Kneifel and Ashley Marlow picked up a doubles win.

Alex Racine, Chris Gray and Brendan Whalen were all straight-set winners for the Hornet boys.

Anthony Girard and Adam Dodge added a win in doubles.
