KEENE — Keene was able to overcome an early deficit and grab an 11-7 win against Westport in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference baseball Thursday.
With the Eagles up 3-0 after the first inning, the Beavers cut it to 3-2 in the bottom of the second.
They were than able to get huge back-to-back four-run innings in the fourth and fifth.
Colton Venner threw a complete game, notching 15 strikeouts and only walking four batters.
He also helped himself out, going 3-for-4 with a triple. Brandon Dumas also went 3-for-4 in the game with a home run.
Beavers head coach Fred Hooper was very happy with the way his team played.
“I am thrilled we got this win,” Hooper said. “It was our first win of the season, so we were happy to grab this one.”
