Lapierre, Guay lead Chazy over Lake Placid

CHAZY — Alec Lapierre and Hayden Guay combined for 12 of Chazy’s 16 points in the fourth quarter as it held off Lake Placid for a 53-46 victory in boys’ Northern Basketball League basketball Tuesday.

The Eagles held a three-point lead at halftime, which the Blue Bombers cut to one at the end of three.

Guay and Lapierre each finished with 18 points for Chazy. Guay connected on three 3-pointers.

“It was Senior Night in Chazy,” Eagles coach Cory Thompson said. “Seniors Alec Lapierre and Hayden Guay played strong on both ends of the floor in the win.

“I am very proud of my three seniors — Jack Genier, Guay and Lapierre — for the hard work they put in (Tuesday).”

Tarik Cecunjanin led Lake Placid’s comeback attempt in the third quarter with seven points. He finished the game with 17 points, including three 3-pointers. Chris Kordziel and Andrew Meister each chipped in with eight points.

Ticonderoga 51, Westport 50

TICONDEROGA — The Sentinels contested a shot from the Eagles from 12 feet away that missed as Ticonderoga held on for the one-point victory.

Anthony DuShane tossed in 12 points to lead the Sentinels. Mike Graney added 10 points, while Quentin Austin finished with nine points and 13 rebounds.

“It was a great game throughout,” Ticonderoga coach Joe Defayette said. “Westport was able to get a contested shot from about 12 feet away that didn’t go in.”

Anderson Gay led all scorers with 20 points, including 10 in the third quarter, for the Eagles. Ryan Davis had 15 rebounds and six assists to go with his seven points. Sam Snapper added nine points, while John Doyle chipped in with eight points

PORT HENRY — The Vikings clamped down on defense in the second and third quarters as they pulled away from the Lions.

Moriah held Elizabethtown-Lewis to 10 points over those quarters.

Adam Jaquish led the way offensively with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Chris Clarke tossed in 11 points. Billy Larrow added eight points and dive rebounds.

The Lions, who were without three starters, were led by R.J. Plante’s 15 points.

WILLSBORO — Adam Tedford (15), Kaden Baugh (13) and Chris Kustos (14) combined for 42 points as the Knights defeated the Warriors.

Keagen Briggs chipped in with nine points for Seton Catholic.

Baugh, Kustos and Nic Favreau each finished with seven rebounds, while Baugh and Cody Quantock both dished out five assists.

“Seton was very efficient on offense (Tuesday),” Willsboro coach Jim Spring said. “They move the ball very well and get good looks at the basket.”

Nick Arnold led the way for the Warriors with 15 points. Seth Swires chipped in with seven points.
