Seton, Tedford beat Chazy at buzzer

CHAZY — Adam Tedford came to Seton Catholic’s rescue Wednesday night.

Tedford nailed a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Knights (1-0) a 48-47 victory over Chazy (1-1) in non-league boys’ basketball.

The Eagles held a 46-45 lead when Alec Lapierre hit a free throw with five seconds remaining in regulation to put Chazy ahead by two.

“Tedford was three feet behind the arc on the right side, with Justin Brothers in his face, when he hit the three,” said Chazy coach Cory Thompson. “It was a great shot.

“It was a great game.”

Tedford finished with 21 points in all, while Kaden Baugh added nine points and Nic Favreau seven for the Knights.

Seton Catholic overcame a slow start, scoring just two points in the first quarter.

Lapierre paced Chazy with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Hayden Guay added nine points, Brandon Laurin eight points, four rebounds and five steals, and Brothers six rebounds.

“It was an up-tempo game with both teams pressing,” said Thompson.

Both teams could have made it easier on themselves if they would have hit their free throws. The Knights were just 7-of-17 and the Eagles 3-of-10 from the charity stripe.
