Northwood shuts out Franklin Academy

MALONE — Franklin Academy and Northwood battled in an evenly played bys’ hockey game, but Northwood was able to tally twice in a 2-0 victory.

Tom Cyle found the back of the net with just 34 seconds remaining in the first period on an assist from John Kosseim to give Northwood a 1-0 lead.

After a scoreless second period, Julis Alanne made it 2-0 with 1:04 remaining in the game. Pierre Laffitte assisted on the goal.

“It was an evenly played game,” Huskies coach Chuck Dievendorf said. “We just couldn’t find the back of the net. We had scoring opportunities, but just couldn’t get it in.”

Bradley Stone turned away 25 shots to capture the shutout victory for Northwood.

Joey Brown made 26 saves for Franklin Academy (5-3-1).
