WEBSTER — Two Section VII records and eight personal-bests were established over the weekend at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association boys’ swimming and diving championships.
Plattsburgh High’s Matt Evans set a new section mark for the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.25 records. He clipped .56 seconds off the existing mark.
The Hornets’ 200 freestyle relay team also turned in a section-record performance. Nick Nowosielski, Shawn Courson, Rob Hartman and Matt Evans finished in 1:34.32 to take 3.65 seconds off the section mark.
Plattsburgh’s medley relay unit of Kenny Hausrath, Hayden Reidy, Matt Evans and Rob Hartman had a personal-best by 1.31 seconds. Spencer Hall also set a personal-best by 2.81 seconds in the 200 individual medley and clipped .86 seconds off his time in the 100 butterfly.
Jeremy Carpenter of PHS lowered his best in the 100 breaststroke by .14 seconds and the 400 freestyle relay team of Hall, Connor McSweeney, Dalton Harney and Carpenter cut 3.12 seconds off their previous best.
