Wright's ace helps Chiefs over Knights

PLATTSBURGH — Saranac, with Jarett Wright leading the way with a hole-in-one, edged out a victory over Seton Catholic in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference golf on Wednesday.

The two teams battled to a 3-all tie before the Chiefs won by the slimmest of margins, 192-193, in the tiebreaker.

Wright, Saranac’s No. 2 golfer, aced the 145-yard, par-three 16th hole, using an eight iron, at The Barracks Golf Club.

Nick Lees, Wright and Nick Daniels won matches for the Chiefs, with Lees sharing medalist honors on the day with Seton Catholic’s Joe Zalis with a 41, and Wright next with a 43.

Zalis, David LaFountain and Mark Ryan picked up victories for the Knights.

ROUSES POINT — Alex Duffy was medalist with a 42, while teammates Nolan Reid and Zachary Guay followed with a 43 each at Northeastern Clinton knocked Peru from the unbeaten ranks at the North Country Golf Club.

Reid, Duffy, Chris Kokes (45) and Guay won their matches for the Cougars, who won the No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 matches.

Gavin Plimpton and Kyle Miller were the winners for the Indians. Miller carded the low round for Peru with a 45, while Plimpton and Jordan Guay each added a 46.

AUSABLE FORKS — Miles Lussi, Ryan Kane, Patrick Kane and Jay Reid won their matches to provide the margin of difference for the Blue Bombers at the AuSable Valley Golf Club.

Lussi and Ryan Kane shared medalist honors on the afternoon, each carding a 42.

Ridge Perkett and Kyle Hart picked up the Patriots’ wins. Perkett and Nate Devins had the low rounds for AuSable Valley, each finishing with a 43.

PLATTSBURGH — Andre Poirier, T.J. LaPoint, Alec Odnoha. Matt Evans and Walker Gosrich all won matches for the Hornets at Bluff Point, handing Moriah its first loss of the season.

LaPoint carded the low round for Plattsburgh High with a 42, followed by Nick Dodd with a 46.

Dodd, however, lost his No. 1 match to the Vikings’ Dylan Scozzafava, who was the day’s medalist with a 41. Moriah eighth-grader Kyle Wilson came within inches of a hole-in-one on the ninth hole.

RAY BROOK — Medalist Dustin Fischer carded an even-par 36 at Ray Brook Golf Course to power the Red Storm (4-1). Fischer’s round included five pars, two birdies and two bogeys.

Ethan Sawyer added a 38, Carley Sawyer a 41, Black Gregory a 42, Austin Ecret a 42 and Teddy Yanchitis a 43 for Saranac Lake.

The Red Storm will play Peru at Adirondack Golf & Country Club on Friday.

Karney Manning turned in the low round for the Sentinels with a 53.

WESTPORT — Alex Shaughnessy and Eric Paradis shared medalist honors with 44s at the Westport Golf Club to lead the Wildcats in the rain-delayed match.

Shaughnessy, in the No. 1 match, recorded a 2-up victory over Anderson Gay.

Tanner Stone, Joe DeZalia, Nathan Peace and Austin Armstrong also won matches for Schroon Lake.

The low round for the Panthers was turned in by Jacob Anderson with a 52.
