Nolan Reid fires 35 as Cougars win

ROUSES POINT — Nolan Reid carded a one-under par 35 at the North Country Golf Club on Thursday to power Northeastern Clinton to a 4-2 decision over defending Champlain Valley Athletic Conference golf champion Saranac Lake.

Reid, who was medalist on the day, Cody Young, Chad Littlefield and Zachary Guay won matches for the Cougars.

Ethan Sawyer, who was low man for the Red Storm with a 40, and Blake Gregory picked up wins for the visitors.

Alex Duffy added a 41 for Northeastern Clinton, and Dustin Fischer, who lost his No. 1 match to Reid, had a 42 for Saranac Lake.

“It was a great match with a lot of good scores,” Northeastern Clinton coach Matt Fredette said. “Saranac Lake was undefeated last year, and this was a great win for my team. All my players shot excellent rounds at their respective positions.”

PERU — Tyler Begor, Beekmantown’s No. 4 player, was medalist with a 43 to lead the Eagles to a tie-breaker win over Seton Catholic after the two teams tied 3-all at Adirondack Golf & Country Club.

Begor, Brendan Carnright and Josh Perkins, the Eagles’ final three golfers in the lineup, won their matches, while Nic Favreau, Adam Tedford and Joey LaFranca picked up wins for the Knights. Favreau played well for Seton Catholic with a 44.

PLATTSBURGH — Jordan Guay was medalist with 40 to lead Peru to a victory over Saranac at The Barracks.

Peru got huge contributions from Guay, Matt Nugent, Tyler Lemza, Ian Spear and Kyle Miller all winning their matches.

The lone victory for Saranac was from Dillon Plumadore, who shot a 42.

TICONDEROGA — Ridge Perkett was medalist with a 43 to lead the Patriots past the Sentinels at Ticonderoga Country Club.

Kyle Hart, Nate Devins, Lucas Finnegan and Ian Rennie also won matches for AuSable Valley.

Jacob Young won his match for Ticonderoga and was low man on his team with a 48.
