Peru girls finish CVAC cross-country season undefeated

SARANAC LAKE — Jeriqho Gadway finished first in Tuesday’s Champlain Valley Athletic Conference cross-country meet finale with a time of 16:49.

Gadway helped Plattsburgh to two victories on the day, beating Saranac Lake (22-38) and Peru, (24-32). Keenan Hunt-Stone added a fifth-place finish (18:30) for the Hornets.

The Indians, despite the loss to Plattsburgh, came away with two wins of their own. Peru defeated Seton Catholic (28-31) and Saranac Lake (24-24).

Kyler Agoney (17:56) finished third to lead the way for the Indians. Andrew Downs (19:04) chipped in with an eighth-place finish.

The Knights, who were without Mitchell Ryan, went 1-1 on the day with a win against the Red Storm (27-29).

Evan Page (17:00) took second to pace Seton Catholic. Erik Ziemer (18:43) and Steven Murray (18:58) finished sixth and seventh, respectively.

Zane Pelletieri (18:29) led the way for Saranac Lake with a fourth-place finish.

Peru’s Ashley Leta and Seton Catholic’s Margaret Champagne squared off again in the girls’ race. Champagne picked up the victory in a time of 19:27, while the Indians came away with three victories.

Peru grabbed wins against Saranac Lake (18-41), Plattsburgh (15-49) and the Knights (23-37).

Leta (19:47) took second place to lead the charge for the Indians. Meghan Mazzella (19:55) finished third, Liza Uliva (20:41) took fifth, Cheyanne Dobozy (20:59) was seventh and Maria Remillard (21:01) finished eighth.

Melissa Whyman (20:37) finished fourth for Seton Catholic, which defeated the Red Storm (27-30).

Elena Biedeck (20:51) took sixth for Saranac Lake, which came away with a win over the Hornets (22-33).

Natalie Casey-Sanger (22:20) paced Plattsburgh with an 11th-place finish.
