Peru boys, girls win two in CVAC cross country

SARANAC LAKE — The Peru cross country teams picked up a pair of victories each Tuesday in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action.

The Saranac boys and Saranac Lake girls= also came away with two wins on the day.

Zach LePage took home the boys’ victory for the Chiefs in a time of 17:17, while Elysha O’Connell was first in the girls’ race for Saranac in a time of 20:50.

Chad Dashnaw (17:54) and Justin Liechty (18:07) finished third and fourth, respectively, for the Chiefs. Sen Tyrell (19:26) was sixth, Kolby Kitterle (19:36) finished seventh, while Ben Bova (19:42) took eighth.

Brady Terry (19:20) took fifth to lead the way for Peru. Ethan Feazelle (19:59) added a ninth-place finish.

Zane Pelleteri (17:53) captured second place for the Red Storm, who added a victory over Northeastern Clinton. Max Paul (20:04) finished in 10th.

Maria Remillard took third for the Indians in the girls’ race in 21:28. Meghan Mazzella (21:30) took fourth, with Shauna Fliss (21:34) coming in fifth.

Johanna Mohrs led the way for Saranac Lake with a time of 21:39 and a sixth-place finish. Sophie Theron (22:06) came in seventh, while Grace Sullivan (22:24) and Jackie Garso (22:46) finished ninth and 10th, respectively.

Samantha Smith (20:55) paced Northeastern Clinton with a second-place finish. Janyll Barber (22:08) finished in eighth for the Chiefs.

TI BOYS, SETON GIRLS WIN TWO

TICONDEROGA — The Knights stayed perfect with one race to go in the regular season after picking up two victories in the girls’ race.

Seton Catholic defeated both the Sentinels and the Hornets.

Margaret Champagne picked up first with a time of 20:33. She was followed by three of her teammates, Melissa Whyman (20:57), Ashley Leta (21:00) and Sofia DeJordy (22:17). Maddy Munn (23:37) added a seventh-place finish.

Claire Deshaies paced Plattsburgh with a time of 23:33, good for sixth place. The Hornets defeated Ticonderoga. Makenzie Baker (23:42) and Alyssa Rector (24:00) finished in eighth and ninth, respectively.

Naomi Forkas (23:07) paced the Sentinels with a fifth-place finish.

Tyler Belden captured third in the boys’ race in a time of 17:35 to help Ticonderoga past both Plattsburgh and Seton Catholic. The Sentinels hold just one loss on the season.

Shawn Silliman (18:45) took fifth, while Jacob Young (19:10) finished in sixth. Coleman Granger (19:31) added an eighth-place finish.

Jeriqho Gadway took first overall with a time of 16:45 to lead the Hornets to a victory over the Knights.

Connor Cota (19:44) finished 10th for Plattsburgh.

Evan Page (16:46) finished just behind Gadway to lead the way for Seton Catholic. Caleb Moore (19:29) took seventh, while Matt Cote (19:32) came in ninth.

Westport’s Jonathan Gay finished fourth in the race with a time of 18:11.

BEEKMANTOWN SWEEPS

LAKE PLACID — Colin Quackenbush captured first place in the boys’ race to lead the Eagles to a pair of wins.

Quackenbush finished in a time of 18:25, while helping Beekmantown past both the Patriots and the Blue Bombers.

The Eagles finished with seven runners in the top 10, including the first five to finish. Jordan West (18:41), Jon Graziane (18:52) Cory Couture (19:14) and Everett Sapp (19:27) came in second-through-fifth for Beekmantown.

Brandon Couture (19:59) and Patrick Sullivan (20:03) took eighth and ninth, respectively.

Brandon Ruocco (19:30) paced AuSable Valley with a sixth-place finish. Karl Schulz (19:57) took seventh for Lake Placid.

The Eagles had 11 runners finish in the top 15 as they defeated the Blue Bombers and Patriots in the girls’ race.

Rachel Kashorek led the way with a time of 22:48 and second-place finish. Anna Stitt (23:25) took third, while Jennifer Graziane (28:16) finished in fourth. Kirsten Harvey (28:36) grabbed seventh place for Beekmantown.

Nina Armstrong took the top spot in a time of 22:08 to lead Lake Placid. Erin Skufca (28:28) finished in fifth.

Jessica Malskis (28:32) was the top finisher for AuSable Valley, taking sixth. Emily Patenaude (28:37) came in eighth.
