Chateaugay girls shut out the Panthers

CHATEAUGAY — Chateaugay’s dominance in Northern Athletic Conference girls’ soccer continued Monday.

The Bulldogs (14-0-1), utilizing Hannah Cook’s two goals and a goal and an assist from Katie Beach, registered a 5-0 defeat of Parishville-Hopkinton.

“We played well against a second-place team,” Chateaugay coach Steve Lang said. “Everybody contributed and played, and it was a nice team victory.”

Danielle Charland opened scoring with just 3:46 gone in the first half on a one-time feed from Beach. Cook and Beach extended the Bulldogs’ lead to three during a 6:49 span.

Cook, the reigning New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class D Player of the Year, and Courtney Yando recorded second-half tallies.

Kennedy Boyea and Abby Cowan combined for seven saves in a shutout performance for Chateaugay. Marlee Wilson totaled six saves in the loss for the Panthers.

The Bulldogs will close their regular-season schedule with a road game at St. Lawrence Thursday.
