AuSable reaches semis in volleyball

GUILDERLAND — The AuSable Valley girls’ volleyball team made it to the semifinals Saturday before losing in the Guilderland Tournament.

The Patriots compiled a 4-2 record in morning pool play, with wins over Mohanasen and Ballston Spa.

AuSable Valley then lost two sets to Voorheesville, but still advanced to the semifinals in the eight-team field.

The Patriots, in the semifinals, played host Guilderland, the top seed coming out of the other bracket. AuSable Valley won the first set, but then dropped the next two to bow out of the event.

“We played great against a Class A school like Guilderland, who ended up facing Voorheesville for the title,” AuSable Valley coach Sandy Hoey said. “Noelle Miller, Marissa O’Neill and Miranda Sheffer led the team today in both leadership and play. It was outstanding competition all day.”

Saratoga, Fonda-Fultonville and Waterford also competed in the event.
