Plattsburgh rallies past Peru in CVAC volleyball

PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh High lost the first game before winning three close ones while rallying for a 3-1 victory over Peru in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference volleyball Wednesday night.

The Hornets prevailed, 16-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-23.

Kianna Dragoon led the way for Plattsburgh with 13 points and 26 assists, while Sam Martin added seven kills and 11 points and Deanna LaBarge with seven kills and nine points.

Also helping out for the Hornets was Maddie Bushey with eight kills.

Peru was powered by Lea Perry with 10 points and 11 assists, Madeline Kaplan 11 points and nine kills and Taylor Higgins, six points and seven kills. Lexi Miner and Megan Kelso each served seven points.

AUSABLE VALLEY 3, NORTHERN ADIRONDACK 0

CLINTONVILLE — Noelle Miller finished with seven points, six aces, 11 kills, five digs and three blocks to help power the Patriots to their sweep of the Bobcats.

Miranda Sheffer also had a big match with 18 points, eight aces, four kills, four digs and 12 assists as AuSable Valley won by game scores of 25-11, 25-6, 25-23. Mirissa O’Neill chipped in with 11 kills and seven assists, while Lindsay Christian added seven points on Senior Night.

“All six seniors played awesome and contributed to the win tonight,” AuSable Valley coach Sandra Hoey said. “Each senior had at least one point and at least one kill.”

Olivia Barnaby and Amber Collins served four points apiece for Northern Adirondack, while Zoey Varin and Katelyn Snide finished with three kills each.

CHAMPLAIN — Amanda Tallon finished with 23 points and 12 assists to help power the Cougars to a sweep of the Red Storm.

Paige Rabideau added eight points for Northeastern Clinton, which won by game scores of 25-11, 25-13, 25-19.

Ashley McCoy chipped in with six kills, while Gabrielle Vasquez and Ellen Reid each added five kills.

Ellen Miner served five points for Saranac Lake and Brittany Woodruff added seven digs.

BEEKMANTOWN — Grace Kelly put down eight kills and Michaela Lafountain had five points and 27 assists to help the Eagles to a sweep of the Chiefs.

Mikaela Frechette served 11 points for Beekmantown, Jordynne Ales added 11 digs and five points, and Evelyn Vicencio chipped in seven digs. Shannon Ryan contributed nine points and six kills.
