Fort Ann pounces on Crown Point in Class D playoffs


PLATTSBURGH — The Fort Ann Cardinals are the defending state champions in Class D girls’ softball.

The Section II champions showed why they may again be the team to beat this year following an impressive 19-0 victory against Section VII’s Crown Point in the New York State Public High School Association’s regional final at Plattsburgh State’s Cardinal Park Friday afternoon.

Peru battles, falls to No. 2 Troy


The Section VII-champion Indians battled the No. 2 Flying Horses through six innings, before Troy tallied five runs in the seventh to pull away for the victory.

Third inning bites Saranac in loss to Mechanicville

St. Lawrence shuts out Ticonderoga in Class C playoffs


The Larries held the Sentinels to just two hits, while Ticonderoga had three errors and allowed 12 walks.

Local teams start state softball playoffs today

Peru, Saranac and Ticonderoga are in action Thursday, while Crown Point plays Friday.
