CHAMPLAIN — Seton Catholic battled Northeastern Clinton as tough as it could with just four players on the roster.
The Knights picked up two wins in singles, but lost three matches due to forfeit to lose the match to the Cougars, 3-2, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls’ tennis Wednesday.
Kelli Ryan and Shannon Egan each dropped their first set of the day before rebounding.
Ryan took the second and third set 6-4 in No. 1 singles against the Cougars’ Abbie Miller.
Egan knocked off Morgan Rabideau with 7-5, 6-2 scores in the final two sets.
Northeastern Clinton’s Aryana Kellison and Andrea Mossey defeated Lauren Richter and Alyse Clark by forfeit in No. 1 doubles. Kellison and Mossey held a 6-2, 4-1 lead before a Seton Catholic player retired due to illness.
In the boys’ match it was a 5-0 victory for the Cougars.
Ryan Marks, Jordan Brilotti and Devin McManus were winners in singles matches for Northeastern Clinton.
McKenna and Adam Khater took their doubles match 6-0, 6-1, while Austin Tetreault and Brendan Boutin were 6-0, 6-1 winners.
Brilotti had the best match of the day, needing a tiebreaker in the first set against the Knights’ Keagan Briggs.

No. 1- Kellison/Mossey (NCCS) def. Richter/Clark, 6-2, 4-1 (retired). No. 2- Menard/Babbie (NCCS) won by forfeit.
NAC 3, BEEKMANTOWN 2
ELLENBURG — The Bobcats and Eagles were tied 2-2 with just the No. 1 doubles match to be decided.
Northern Adirondack’s Amber St. Andrew and Lacey Jiguere battled it out with Beekmantown’s Julie Solberg and Chelsey Tallada for three sets, which ultimately would decide the entire match.
St. Andrew and Jiguere took the first set 6-4, while Solberg and Tallada captured a 6-1 win in the second set.
The third set would go to a tiebreaker, with St. Andrew and Jiguere coming away with a 7-6(7-2) victory.
Katie Lamb and Taylor Pitts captured a victory at No. 2 doubles for the Bobcats. Maegan Brunelle was also a winner at No. 3 singles.
The Eagles were led by wins from Olivia Wyand and Anna Stitt at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.

No. 1- St. Andrew/Jiguere (NAC) def. Solberg/Tallada, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(7-2). No. 2- Lamb/Pitts (NAC) def. Gricoski/Minardi, 6-1, 6-0.
