SARANAC — Champlain Valley Athletic Conference wrestling champion Saranac now has its sights on a Section VII team crown.
The Chiefs closed out a 7-1 season in league play on Wednesday night with a 51-16 decision over Northern Adirondack and will be a favorite going into Saturday’s sectionals at AuSable Valley.
The best match of the night was Saranac’s Brandon Yip with a 4-2 decision over Roland LaPoint at 113 pounds.
John Devins (106) and James Black (160) won by fall for the Chiefs and Jake Nolan (99) by technical fall.
Yip, Shawn LaGraves (120), Rafael Rivera (126), Codie Gillette (138), and Will Marcil (145) picked up wins by decision, while Cody Plumadore (195), Paul Herrera (220) and Tony Bushey (285) won by forfeit as Saranac won 11 matches in all.
Collin LaBombard (152) recorded a pin for the Bobcats, while Austin Trombley (132), Leon Riley (170) and Matt Lashway (182) were winners by decision.
