NAC goes 2-0 in first day of Livermore Duals
ELLENBURG — Host Northern Adirondack opened the first day of action in the Annual Barry Livermore Dual Wrestling Invitational with two victories on Friday.
The Bobcats recorded a 64-19 decision over Franklin Academy and a 57-9 victory over Ogdensburg Free Academy.
Highlights for NAC in its win over Ogdensburg was Austin Trombley’s 4-3 win over Tanner Lapiene at 106 pounds, and Justin Kellett’s 7-1 decision over Andrew Cole at 170. Lapiene recently won his weight class at the Peru Wrestling Classic.
“We’re looking forward to a tough dual with Massena on Saturday,” said NAC coach Jamie Gilmore. “Massena beat Beekmantown in a very exciting match on Friday.”
The Eagles recorded a 69-9 victory over Middlebury, Vt., but dropped a 40-35 setback to Massena, despite winning the final four matches, including three by pin.
In other matches Friday, Franklin Academy recorded a 42-30 victory over Canton-Potsdam, and Ogdensburg Free Academy a 63-18 decision over Canton-Potsdam.
Today’s mat action will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will feature five more rounds.

Seymour goes 2-0
LOCH SHELDRAKE — Troy Seymour, wrestling at 170 pounds, went 2-0 Friday to lead Peru’s efforts during the first day of the tough Eastern States Wrestling Classic at Sullivan Community College.
Seymour recorded a pin and then won a major decision to finish the day unbeaten.
The Indians took 10 wrestlers to the event and it takes two losses for a matman to be eliminated.
Still alive for Peru are Brandon Goddeau (1-1) at 99, Nick Forget (2-1) at 126, Jordan Bushey (3-1) at 138, Noah Phillips (3-1) at 145 and Luke McKee (2-1) at 220.
Wrestlers who were eliminated included Ethan Feazelle (0-2) at 106, Kyler Agoney (1-2) at 113, Tanner Phillips (0-2) at 132, and Caleb Feazelle (0-2) at 152.
“We wrestled pretty well,” said Peru co-coach Gary Edwards. “Troy wrestled tough even though he had just the two matches.
“We lost a few close matches that we wish we would have won.”
